Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review | Digital Chumps

DC: The Old Blood is a standalone prequel to last year's Wolfenstein: The New Order, expanding upon the story and maintaing AAA quality. Let's check it out. Franchise/series reboots can be a tricky thing, but MachineGames proved their skill at crafting a modern AAA FPS with Wolfenstein: The New Order (TNO) which I reviewed nearly a year ago. I really enjoyed it, and in the last month I actually replayed through the campaign on hard mode and I can comfortably say it's one of the best FPS games I have ever played.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood PS4 Review: out with the new, in with the old | PSU

Added: 14.05.2015 17:16 | 14 views | 0 comments

PSU: The Old Blood falls back into the timeline of those earlier entries, taking place entirely in the alternate 1946 where the Nazis were not pushed back on D-Day. We come into play as gruff-voiced protagonist -and man with arms of steel- B.J. Blazkowicz is going undercover to infiltrate the menacing Castle Wolfenstein. Naturally things go wrong quickly and head ever-downhill from then on. It keeps the story-telling formula of The New Order, peppered with narrative voiceovers and gloriously cheesy 80s action hero dialogue, but a swifter run-time means side characters dont get quite as much fleshing out here. The big bad you spend much of the game at odds with is probably the standout new addition. Otherwise, the reasons this isnt a fully-fledged sequel are quite apparent as The Old Blood borrows heavily from The New Order and the last few Wolfenstein titles for set pieces, themes and areas, perhaps most notably from Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood review | EGMNOW

EGM: Im a pretty big Wolfenstein fan, so when MachineGames took a shot at rebooting the series last year with The New Order, I admit I was wary. But they genuinely shocked me with how they kept the game intense and action-packed but also infused it with the grit and emotion you normally dont find in first-person shooters. So, even though Im often wary of anything labeled as a prequel, I was more than ready to jump into Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, hoping to be surprised once again.

MNJ: Wolfenstein: The Old Blood delivers a blood soaked expoerience that most gamers will love, but it loses its idenity by putting the story second. I enjoyed the battles and while I felt it was a tad short, I don't think I could have gone through another few hours of traveling between engagements. As a small prequel to The New Order [...] Via Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review | Mouse n Joypad

Corey says: "When Wolfenstein: The New Order was announced I was highly wary of the claims by the developer and how the overall game would play. I expected just another first person shooter trying to rehash an old PC favorite. Surprisingly my scepticism was put aside as TNO became one of my favorite games of 2014. So it is safe to say I was pretty excited when a standalone prequel game was announced. Flash forward to last week and the game preloading on my Xbox One and I kind of felt a little indifferent."

Is It Losing Its Magic? Metal Slug 3.

The Neo Geo coin-op and Home console unit was one of the most expensive hardware/console of its time and even the 3DO felt cheap compared to it. I always wanted one back then but that kinda changed when M.A.M.E. started getting playable on my Amiga, most games that i tried was not for me.
